In the absence of Will and Pierce, our original plans were sort of thrown out the window and we created an impromptu agenda. The group discussed potential art mediums and groups in the community they wish to explore and expose. Some of us also demonstrated our talents as artists by showing visual arts pieces, photographs, and reading poems. Everyone has such great skill and incredible talent!
Kane, who partnered up with Will to do the Poetic Portraits of a Revolution project in Egypt and Tunisia, came in to speak about his experiences exploring a foreign culture and community. His revelations helped all of us streamline our broad ideas and create a vision for where we want to take this project.
In an effort to keep organized, the last moments of the meeting were spent writing the potential communities and mediums each individual wishes to explore on a sticky note. They were then all posted on a wall and organized based on similarities.
Looking forward to next week!
Feel better Will!

Today, each individual in the Poetry in Motion cast will be formally introducing themselves and potential project ideas through a 2-3 minute artistic representation of their choice.
The group previously began brainstorming a potential name change for the project. A final decision for an official working title of this 10-week process may result from today's meeting. Stay tuned for official meeting minutes!
During their first meeting, the Poetry in Motion crew talked in depth about what lies ahead for the next 10-weeks. After an icebreaker game of "Taboo" the group began brainstorming a potential name change for the project in an effort to give the student members more leverage over details of the project. The instructors of the program want to give the students a greater sense of autonomy as to in which direction the project will head. It should be a fun 10 weeks!
